Description

I took one of my high-resolution lunar photos of the Montes Apenninus region and mapped it in stereo 3D using experimental displacement data from NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera (LROC).

This shows the relative heights/depths of the craters and mountains in the region.

Mons Huygens (the highest single lunar mountain) is toward the center, this peak is around 5,500 m in elevation.

LROC displacement data is freely available: https://svs.gsfc.nasa.gov/4720

I used the free 3D graphics program Blender to render the displacement model.
